Biafrans Study Peace Plan
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) ADDIS ABABA, August 9. Biafra’s delegation at full-scale peace talks with Nigeria was ready to reply today to a nine-point plan aimed at ending their 14-month-old civil war.
After Chief Anthony Enahoro, leader of the Federal Nigerian Government’s delegation, submitted the plan on Wednesday, the Biafrans
asked for the talks to be delayed 24 hours so that they could consider their reply. They spent most of yesterday in their hotel rooms studying the plan, the first point of which calls for Biafra’s renunciation of secession. Other points put forward by the Federal side deal mainly with the policing and government of Biafra after it has been reintegrated into the Federation. The timing of today's resumption is the responsibility of the Biafran delegation, which is led by Professor Eni Njoku after the departure of Biafra’s leader, Lieu-tenant-Colonel Ojukwu. The delegation confirmed that the talks would resume today in Africa Hall, but declined to indicate a time.
