MOUNT COOK FACILITIES

Improvements Sought

The South Island Publicity Association will ask the National Development Conference to recommend improvements to accommodation and facilities at Mount Cook and Queenstown. In a list of submissions to the tourism section of the conference, the association says that unless more beds are provided at Mount Cook and Queenstown, bottlenecks in the flow of tourists must continue.

The association says development of recreational facilities at Mount Cook is needed. These should Include an aerial cableway, golf course, souvenir shops, heated swimming pool, and skating rink.
