French Polynesia
Sir, —If President de Gaulle can pronounce loudly in favour of self-determina-tion for the Vietnamese, the Biafrans, and the people of Quebec, it is fair enough for New Zealand to speak likewise for the people of Tahiti, who have clearly demonstrated their unanimous desire for autonomy, and an end to the military occupation of their islands for nuclear testing. They should have at least one publicly-known friend in the international arena.—Yours, etc., ELSIE LOCKE. August 8, 1968.
