COUNTY TOWN
Proposal For Darfield
Darfield residents may ask i the Malvern County Council to give them county town status, with a committee to run the town’s affairs.
They have set up a sub‘committee which will meet the council, and will later make a recommendation to the Darfield Citizens’ Association. The next step could be a petition to the council, asking it to create the county town.
This step could be taken by the council at any appropriate time, the county clerk (Mr B. W. Perrin) told “The Press.”
He had given a talk to a meeting of the association on the county town procedure, and had also dealt with the question of unimproved value rating, which could be used with a county town.
There had been discussions with the council’s town-plan-ning consultant (Miss N. Northcroft) to fix a tentative town boundary, which would serve also as the water-supply loan rating area.
