Market Closes On Firm Note
The sharemarket closed on a very firm note on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. The New Zealand list had two rises for every fall, and the overseas list also had more rises than falls, although there were some sharp losses.
Leaders were strong, and performed better than the market average. Movements, however, were small, especially among the rises. Turnovers were down on
Thursday's very active market, but the range of trading was wider. A.N.Z. Bank suffered a sharp reverse, and lost 40c, to 750 c. B.H.P. sold unchanged at 2470 c.
