Sale "Airborne”
“There were some doubts whether this sale would ever get oft the ground, but it’s really airborne,” snid Mr A. C. Williams, president of the council of the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association, after the South Island thoroughbred sale in Christchurch yesterday.
Mr Williams said that Australian visitors had been impressed by the possibilities of the Grand National meeting, the sale, and trips to the scenic attractions of the South Island as' an appealing programme for future years. Mr T. Miller, the Sydney bloodstock agent, who was the biggest purchaser at the sale, said he had been pleased a
piece of enterprise had been rewarded. “It must continue to be a success if vendors bring their horses .forward in good sale ring condition,” Mr Miller said. Mr D. B. Clarkson, bloodstock manager of Pyne, Gould, Guinness Ltd, was thanked for his great contribution to the success of the sale by Mr R. E. Adair, president of the Canterbury-Nel-son - Marlborough - Westland branch of the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association. Clarkson has worked verjr-hard to make this sale a success, and he must feel well satisfied, as we all do, with the result,” Mr Adair said.
