AUSTRALIAN TEAM

Table Tennis Tourists The 1967 Australian junior girls’ champion, Miss C. Vick, and the South Australian representative, P. McKenzie, head the Australian Universities’ table tennis team which will make a three-week tour of New Zealand, beginning on August 11. Although several of the leading players were not available, the team should perform well. The three men and three women will play against Canterbury on August 25, and later in the week will contest the New Zealand championships, also in Christchurch. They will participate in the New Zealand Universities winter tournament and on August 15 play a test against what is likely to be a very strong national universities side. Last time the two met, in 1966, Australia won 18 matches to nine.

Bout Declined.—The Australian boxer, Lionel Rose, would not defend his world bantamweight title In Korea this year against Lee Won-Suk. Rose’s trainer-manager <Mr Jack Rennie) said yesterday. His next defence would be in December tn Los Angeles, Sydney or Melbourne.
