Wee Buttons and her brother, Dingle, were both successful at Roosvelt Raceway, New York, at meetings run during the week ending July 13. They were only two of many New Zealand-bred winners at meetings held throughout the United States during that week.
Dingle recorded 2:4 2-5 in a race worth $3900, while Wee Buttons recorded 2:5 1-5 in a race worth $2BOO. Wee Buttons is a rising four-year-old mare by Flying Star from a good winner in Rowan Star. Dingle is a rising six-year-old. Both were bred by the Makikihi trainer, C. C. Scott, who is at present assisting in the preparation of the Flying Song mare, Le Chant, for important trotters’ races. Rowan Star has left other winners in Snell, Bubbles, Cathpete, and Jazy. She is a sister of Orbiter, which has recently resumed racing in New York. He is expected to show peak form when the Yonkers Raceway season opens shortly. Angelita and Geronimo Joe, which were at one stage both trained at Greenpark by L. A. Williams, were also successful at Roosevelt Raceway.
