HAY FOR BULLER
Offers From Canterbury
Eight railway trucks of hay amounting to 1120 bales had been sent to farmers in the Inangahua district after the earthquake in the Buller district, the provincial executive of North Canterbury Federated Farmers was advised yesterday. The vice-president (Mr A. F. Wright) said the hay had been given by the Tai Tapu, Banks Peninsula, Springston, Sefton, Hororata, Darfield, Sheffield and Oxford districts.
When Mr Wright announced that the Inangahua branch of Federated Farmers was seeking more hay, he was offered another six trucks. They came from Oxford, Hororata, Sheffield and Springston. Mr T. W. Simpson, of Springston, who farmed for several years in the Buller district, said farmers in the relief area were reluctant to ask for more hay because of the cold winter in Canterbury. Mr D. W. Gray said a lot of hay was saved in Canterbury last season. He thought Canterbury farmers should continue to supply hay to Inangahua even if they ran a little short of hay themselves. i
