Support Grows For Tennis

The first annual report and financial statement of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Supporters’ Club, to be presented to the annual meeting on Monday evening, shows a bank balance of $617.80. Begun in June, 1967, the club now has 160 members and, according to the president (Mr J. Mercer) in his report, it is hoped to increase this to 400 in the next year. Mr Mercer says future projects ire a ball in the renovated pavilion at Wilding Park, an open day at the park with buffet and social evening; field days throughout the season; a trip by a group of members to see the Davis Cup in Australia; and to assist the association’s management committee to raise money for the pavilion improvements by the issue of debentures. The balance-sheet shows one anonymous donation of $lOO.
