Mystery Man Marton Fancy
*'The Frew" Special Service PALMERSTON NTH. Mystery Man could win his second Gatrell Handicap at Marton tomorrow for track conditions should suit him better than most of his rivals.
A year ago he beat Autobe •nd Town Crier in this race which is the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Rangitikei Hunt Club's meeting. In each of his recent starts Mystery Man has shown steady improvement. At his latest attempt he beat all but Free Pass in the Winter Cup Trial at Awapuni. The top-weight, Baloo, is hardly likely to show form on a heavy track, but Worthy Chat is a good winter performer.
Worthy Chat, like Governor General and Monty's Gold, raced at Levin yesterday. Worthy Chat looked likely to improve a little with the outing which was his first since the Hawke’s Bay meeting in June. With Humber, a hurdler at his best on fairly firm ground, this leaves the bottom weights Rahunui, ~ Supa and Thurible. Any one of them would be capable of springing a surprise. Large Field The second leg of the main double is the Flockhart Hack Cup which has drawn a large field. There are plenty of chances in this event, but no pronounced early favourite. Anxious Moments could be • bright prospect after several useful races in similar class. He went encouragingly at Awapuni last Saturday, weakening to fourth
after making the pace in the Tararua Plate.
