Hay said he had asked that the term nephrologist be explained as renal physician, but why couldn’t “kidney” be used instead/ of “renal”? be asked.
“Renal wouldn’t mean anything to a lot Of people,” he said- He eould say he had nephron and bacon for breakfast this morning, Mr Hay added with a grin. The acting chairman (Mr I* A. Bennett) said lie did not think doctors concerned would relish being called kidney physicians. Miss Webb asked whether a system of new classification of diseases to be Introduced in 1969 would mean further names which would provide difficulty. She was assured by the medical superintendent-in-chief (Dr I* M. Berry) that the system was for statistical purposes only and would cover every medical condiditlon that could be thought of.
