Sir, —Like “Shareholder” 1 was disgusted to read Mr M. O. Barnett’s remarks on Mr J. N. Crawford’s bid to become a director of New Zealand Breweries. He objected to the cost, $lOOO. Seeing that this combine has $16,053,496 in paid-up capital, $52,115,540 in assets, and pays its eight directors some $30,000 in fees, after a record year and showing a net profit of $3l million, it seems a niggardly view.
