Win In Cup Trial Gives Trainer Clear Lead

"The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NTH. By winning the Winter Cup' trial at Awapuni on Saturday, Free Pass probably assured S. A. Brown of success in the training premiership this season. Brown drew further ahead of his Woodville rival, E. Ropiha.

With less than a fortnight to the end of the current season, Brown has prepared the winners of 46 races. Ropiha’s tally stands at 43. He failed to improve this score at the Manawatu Hunt Club’s meeting. However, Ropiha’s stakes tally of $78,460 exceeds that of the Brown stable, which has won $62,640.
