Jets To Go To McMurdo
Regular flights by pure-jet Starlifters from New Zealand to Antarctica are expected to begin next season. The Starlifters have a maximum cruising speed of 550 miles an hour and will take about five hours between Christchurch and McMurdo Station- The Hercules takes eight hours and the Super Constellation 10 hours. The Starlifters are expected to carry 40,0001 b. Six flights are likely during the season.
