Seven-A-Side Tournament
Irwell won the Ellesmere Rugby Sub-union’s senior seven-a-side tournament at Tai Tapu when it beat Leeston A, 6-3, after extra time in the final. A record 97 teams took part. Lower grade finals resulted:— Junior: Southbridge A 8, Kirwee A 5. Third grade: Lincoln A 3, Waihora A 0. Fourth grade: Lincoln A 18, Leeston 0. Fifth grade: Southbridge 5, Leeston A 0. Sixth grade: Dargeld 3, Irwell 0. Bantam grade: Southbridge A 3, Darfleld 0.
