now has on order a Hereford bull, which will be put with the best of the Hereford cows to breed herd replacements. If all goes well the herd may soon be increased by some 30 cows and eventually 100 calves may be turned off annually. In the meantime the intention is to hold the ewe flock at about 1800. The amount of bush on the property makes management difficult, In spite of a fencing programme, with stock infiltrating through bush gullies. Because of the adverse effect of the bush areas on wool ewes are pre-lamb shorn in early August and lambing follows in September. The flock taken over was a RomneyMerino half-bred one and because of foot troubles at the outset and to build up a bigframed Romney type of sheep, a Romney ram has been used.
