SHOW DAY CRICKET
[ Rep. Matches j To Be Held Show Day representative matches between the minor associations and the Canterbury Cricket Association will resume next season. This was decided when the C.C.A. held its annual meeting with delegates from its minor associations and the suburban association last evening. 1 The meeting was the first the IC.C.A. has held in its new sports i centre at Hagley Park. Last year, these representative matches were played at j Labour Day because the New Zealand team played CanterI bury at Show week-end before leaving on its Australian tour, i The North Canterbury. South Canterbury and Ashburton delegates agreed to play on Show Day but the other two associations. West Coast and Buller, are likely to meet Canterbury sides on Labour Day. “Labour Day is better for us." said the Buller delegate (Mr G. R. Wood). “We do not have a holiday on the Friday as the other minors do." “This would apply to West Coast too,” said Mr R. L. Kerr. It was decided that West Coast and Buller play a match on Labour Day if it can be arranged, possibly as a combined team. Horton Here.—The New Zealand Cricket Council’s coach. Mr M. J. Horton will begin a fortnight's coaching in Christchurch on Monday Hawke Cup.—The position of minor associations and possible changes to the Hawke Cup rules were discussed but nothing was decided or recommended.
