No-Confidence Vote Lost

(N.Z. Press Association )

WELLINGTON, July 12. The Opposition’s 12-point “no confidence” amendment to the Government’s traditional motion that a respectful Address-in-Reply be made to the Governor-General was defeated in Parliament this afternoon by 39 votes to 32. Mr V. F. Cracknell (Hobson), the Social Credit leader, voted with the Opposition. During the eight-day ad-dress-in-reply debate 66 members of the House of Representatives spoke—including the leaders of the three political parties.
