Brilliant Run By Unpainted
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRISBANE. The former New Zealand mare, unpainted, yesterday ran a brilliant trial for tomorrow's $20,000 Doomben Cup at Eagle Farm. Unpainted, the favourite for the big race, trounced her stablemate, Speed of Sound, in a gallop over six furlongs. The mare was timed over the distance in Imin 16sec, the last three furlongs in 41sec. She went to the post in fine style and finished a length in front of Speed of Sound.
Smart Sprint By Whittle "The Press" Special Service WANGANUI. Whittle and Hi There were the only Wellington candidates to work at Wanganui yesterday. Whittle which is not a certain runner in the Onslow Handicap, ran a smart six furlongs. Hi There was trotted around on the inside of the track. Trials were held 15ft out on the course proper. The track was in excellent order in spite of unsettled weather recently. Whittle, ridden by K. S. Lewis, ran a smart six furlongs in Imin 16 2-ssec, the last three in 39sec.
