GOLDEN BOY ROLE

Miss Martin is playing opposite Sammy Davis, jun., in place of another well-known star, Gloria de Haven. Miss Martin got the part at the express request of Sammy Davis, with whom she auditioned nine months ago. “It is a very interesting part —a kind of character I have never done before,” she said. “I have been dying to play at the Palladium all my theatrical life, and now it has happened it just seems like another theatre.” Also very much on top of things in London is the New (Zealand singer, Donald Mclnityre, who has just completed a season in a major role in the Strauss opera, “Elektra,” at Covent Garden. His performance was very well received by the critics.
