KILLING OF BEEF

New Facilities At Pareora The Canterbury Frozen Meat Company, Ltd, has decided to build a beef slaugh-ter-house at its freezing works at Pareora. Announcing this yesterday, the general manager (Mr K. F. S. Cox), said that the Meat Producers' Board had recommended to the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Taiboys) that the necesMry licence be granted. “The company’s decision is based on a survey of the expected increase in beef production in Canterbury during the next five years, which reveals a potential increase of about 50 per cent," Mid Mr Cox. “It is expected that plans will be completed early next year, and unless production of beef cattle falls short of present estimates a tender will be let for completion of the slaughter-house in time for the 1970-71 killing season.”
