No Help For Appeal Fund
A request by the New Zealand Athletic Association for ji> increase in the price of the Rugby test programme oti Saturday, to help raise funds for the* Olympic team appeal was refuaed by-tho management committee of the canterbury Rugby Union last evening. The letter from the association proposed an Increase of Sc In the price of the programme; It claimed that the matter had been raised by Mr W.- D. Johnston with Mr R. W. Thomas. Both men, however, disclaimed any knowledge of the matter, and Mr W. V. Cowles, another member of the committee who is also chairman of the Christchurch Olympic appeal committee, said he disassociated himself frojn, approach. ■. ■’lt is not practicable, anyway, tor the covers of the programes have already been printed with 20c on them.’* said Mr D.
