DEER FOR LINCOLN COLLEGE’S EXPERIMENTAL DEER FARM were brought into Luggate by helicopter after being "shot” with tranquilliser syringes in the high ranges to the north-west of Queenstown and west of Wanaka. The tranquilliser immobilises the animals for 25 to 30 minutes. This photograph shows Mr C. A. Murdoch of Timaru, with two of the tranquillised deer in a net carried beneath the helicopter. In the background, beside the helicopter, is Mr T. W. Wallace, who was injured in a helicopter accident on Sunday.
