BOLT TO LISTON

Fight Stopped In 7th Round (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SAN FRANCISCO. Sonny Liston, the former world heavy-weight boxing champion, won the most important fight of his come-back campaign when he stopped the world-rated Henry Clark in the seventh round of a 10-round bout. Liston, after three years in the wilderness since his second championship loss to Cassius* Clay, almost certainly earned himself a place in the world ratings once more. Clark, who at 23 is at least 13 years younger than Liston, took heavy punishment but was not knocked off his feet. The referee stopped the fight near the end of the seventh round.
