FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A slow-moving depression covers the north Tasman Sea, while a ridge of high pressure lies across the south of the South Island. An easterly airflow covers most of New Zealand. Forecast; Canterbury.—Mainly cloudy, with areas of drizzle and fog on the coast and plains; southerly winds, light inland, elsewhere moderate. Marlborough.—Fresh south or south-east winds; some patches of drizzle and fog in exposed coastal areas; elsewhere moderate easterlies predominating; mainly cloudy and cool. Nelson.—Easterly winds, fresh in places; cloudy, with moderate temperatures; some patches of light rain in and near the ranges. Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate easterly winds; fine, with moderate day temperatures. Outlook.—Canterbury and Marlborough: light rain. Buller, Westland and Nelson: mainly fine.
