Cambridge Fair In Second Win
Cambridge Fair’s win in the Stewards’ Handicap, the second leg of the Wellington Racing Club’s T.A.B. double on Saturday, was his first this season, but it was widely anticipated. The four-year-old from Cambridge was the 2-3 favourite and he won hands down by three lengths from Redaire, which beat the faster-finishing Damar by half a length. Cambridge Fair won this
race a year ago for Messrs G. C. Finlayson and J. W. Winder. Each time he has been ridden by R. W. Taylor. At his previous start before Saturday this mudlark failed in the hands of an apprentice at Avondale. Apart froin the ease of Cambridge Fair’s win there was little to make the race noteworthy. But it was clear some way out that the favourite, General Myth, did not have the qualities for such a test on a heavy track under 9-3. He managed to beat only one of the others in a ninehorse field.
