T.A.B. SAFE BLOWN
Burglars broke into the Eastern Beach branch of the Totalis* ator Agency Board on Saturday night and blew open the safe, the Press Association reports. The amount of cash taken has not been disclosed, but is believed to be a substantial amount. The burglars forced open the front door to gain entry.
The police also went yesterday to the Penrose branch of the T.A.B. after a window was reported to be open. No offence appeared to have been committed. On June 1 two armed men held up this branch and escaped with $2102. Also on Saturday night thieves used gelignite to blow open the safe of Australasian Nurseries, in Pakuranga. They stole about $lB3O and caused considerable damage to the building.
