Paintings Of “This Land"

The Christchurch artist, Quentin McFarlane, exhibited four paintings in Auckland recently in a show at the Barry Lett Gallery, entitled “This Land, ’68." The show was the second in what the gallery hopes will be an annual series showing trends in New Zealand art. Most of the artists exhibiting were from Auckland, although a former Christchurch painter, Ted Bracey, was represented. The others included Don Binney, Colin McCahon, Rita Angus, Susan Goldberg and David Cheer. Mr McFarlane said one of his paintings was sold for about twice the price he would have expected in Christchurch.
