Space Research

Sir, —Seth Newell grandly concedes that “progress is

probably more due to scientific research than any other form of human activity,” and then grizzles about space research expenditure. No distinction exists between the effects of different forms of research, be it for space or not. Space research has provided tremendous impetus to progress in many fields of science, and therefore benefits mankind.—Yours, etc., S.W.G. June 11, 1968.
