SHIP MOVED

A heavy swell which caused the Shaw Savill motor vessel Illyric to surge alongside Cashin Quay early yesterday morning prevented watersiders from boarding the vessel’s gangway. At the request of the agents, the Illyric, which is loading refrigerated and general cargo for ports on the Atlantic Coast of North America, was moved to the inner harbour and berthed at No. 6 West Wharf. Loading began at 1 pm. The vessel had been expected to leave Lyttelton for New Plymouth yesterday to continue loading but will now sail today. It was the first time for more than two years that a vessel working cargo had to be moved to the inner harbour because of the swell.
