Maple Plans Expansion
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 10. Maple Furnishing Companies, Ltd, Auckland retailer, is considering two possible locations for new stores, the chairman (Mr H. T. Thomas) told the annual meeting. The company’s strong financial position made it well placed to continue its policy of expansion as favourable opportunities were presented, be said. The new Rotorua store had been financed by the company’s own resources, although a mortgage was available.
There were signs of a return of some measure of confidence in the economy—the first essential step toward recovery.
Claude Neon Trading (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 16. Extracts from the halfyearly report of Claude Neon Lights of N.Z., Ltd, say that trading results for the halfyear to February 29 are sat isfactory but in view of the lower level of sales which the company has experienced this year, it is expected that net profit for the full year will be slightly lower than that shown for the last year. Should trading conditions remain approximately the same for the rest of this financial year, the directors expect to be able to recommend the same final dividend as was paid last year.
