New Hockey Tournament

In an attempt to give Its representatives more severe competition, the Canterbury Hockey Association is seeking to establish an annual triangular tournament with Auckland and Whangarei. The Canterbury team will travel north this season to meet Auckland and Whangarei, the two other strongest provinces in New Zealand, on the week-end of June 15 and 16. An offer from Guinness Breweries to assist in organising an annual challenge match between Auckland and Canterbury was accepted by the two associations. The firm will pay $3OO towards the travelling expenses and will donate a suitable trophy.
