EDUCATION BY TV
National Plan Sought A policy for educational television development has been adopted by the New Zealand Educational Institute. It is based on an 80-page report received by the institute’s annual conference and now being placed on public sale. A national planning council is recommended. The report suggests the early instruction of teachers on the use of television, a “watch with mother” programme, and special programmes for Maori and rural children and for young adults. Up to four hours a day for telecasts to schools is proposed. The institute proposes to initiate a meeting of all educational associations to seek a common policy on the use of television in education.
