Hogan Prepares For Final Trials
Canterbury’s only Olympic cycling trialist, R. J. Hogan, will move to the North Island at the week-end to make his final preparation for the last trials.
Hogan, one of 16 specially chosen to compete in the 100 kilometres teams’ time trial event at Thames on May 29, will leave for Wellington on Saturday evening after club racing in Christchurch. He is again competing by invitation in the Rothman’s pre-trial series, in a 120-mile event at Otaki on Sunday. After this race, which will include all the top Wellington and West Coast-North Island riders, Hogan will move to Auckland and train on the Forest Hill circuit—the venue for the June 1 final 120-mile trial. Hogan is to ride the two-
day tour between Auckland and Thames on May 25-26 as his final preparation for the 100 kilometres teams’ race, and may also race in Auckland on June 3 before returning to Christchurch.
