N.Z. PHOTOGRAPHER’S SUCCESS

A Dunedin photographer, Mr N. M. Beaumont, has won first prize with his photograph, “Arrival At Dawn” (above), in the twenty-first annual international exhibition of marine photography at the Mariners’ Museum. Newport News, Virginia. The second and third places also went to entries from outside the United States. A photograph by a retired Canadian naval officer in Nova Scotia won second prize, and an Ontario photographer won third prize with a photograph of Hong Kong junks.

Mr Beaumont also won two honourable mentions. News of his success was sent to Christchurch by RearAdmiral George J. Dufek. executive director of the museum, who was the first commander of United States Antarctic Expedition forces.
