More men were entering the hairdressing profession probably because there was less stigma attached to it than in previous years, Mr Bryon Jones, the past-presi-dent of the Canterbury-West-land - Nelson - Marlborough Hairdressers' Association, said.

"The majority of women also like a man to style their hair as he appears to them to be stronger and more confident,” he said.
