Selection Gamble

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright;

SYDNEY. Australia’s Rugby league selectors will have to decide next Sunday whether to gamble on L. Johns for the world championship series, starting on the following Saturday. The Kangaroo full-back, Johns, was injured in the Sydney-Country match on Saturday. He has at least two fractures of his right cheekbone and two fractures of his nose. He has been told it will be two or three weeks before he will be fit to play. Next Sunday is the deadline for the nomination of all cup teams. Johns will have a medical check today. The selectors will be reluctant to leave him out. It will be two weeks before the first world championship game is played, and even if Johns has to miss that one he should be fit by the following Saturday.
