Society Wants Noise Stopped
A small band of Christchurch residents dedicated to banning all unnecessary noise have formed an interiip committee of the Christchurch Noise Abatement Society. When it has enough pupport a public meeting will probably be called. ' Mrs E. M. Coster, the newly appointed secretary, said the society’s aims were to control excess noise without interfering with the freedom of the individual. “The-noise we seek to abate are not only traffic noises but those made by such. devices as motor mowers, pneumatic drills and even pop music,” said Mrs Coster. The chairman of the interim committee is . Mr W. J. V. Hamilton. It is hoped that the local society will later become affiliated with the Ihternational Noise Abatement Society.
