Invitation Declined
"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. The owner and trainer of Governor Frost have declined an invitation to meet Miles Gentry in a match race over a mile at the Thames Trotting Club’s meeting at Alexandra Park on May 28. The offer mu made on Saturday night by Mr H. 8. Barry, the owner of Milee Gentry. Mr Barry was keen Oor Milee Gentry to be driven by Mrs N. Agnew, a 38-year-old Papatootoe housewife, who handled the horse in an attempt on the Alexandra Park mile record on Anzac Day. Governor Frost's trainer, R. Purdon, said yesterday that he and the horse's owner, Mr C. Hadley, felt that Governor Frost needed a spell after he contests the final at the Queen City pace next Saturday. "Except for two short breaks he has been in work since last July,” Purdon said. The president of the Thames, elub, Mr J. Verran, said that his elub would have been prepared to put up a stake of moo.
