G.P. Chitty Suspended
(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE. The northern apprentice, G. P. Chitty, was suspended for four days as a result of an Inquiry at Makaraka on Saturday. In the Midway Handicap, the win favourite, Arragon Lad (D. Weather ley). received a severe check when In the leading bunch approaching the halfmile, and the horse dropped back to last. An inquiry was held Into the Incident, and Chitty, the rider of Sharab. was Charged with having caused the Interference. After hearing evidence from Weatherley, C. B. Harris (Hamlr), K. Ople (Commendable), J. R. O’Neill (Sparrow), M. H .Donoghue (Dean Hagen), and the assistant stipendiary steward at the half-mile, and a statement from the stipendiary steward, the committee found the charge against Chitty proven, and suspended him until May 25.
