(N.Z. Press Aotoeiation) WELLINGTON. Kalott (J. Messent), the favourite tor the Cuddle Stakes at Trentham on Saturday, was reasonably placed turning for home but en straightening up and being taken wide w&i unable to respond to pressure. She finished last. Messent said that Kalott appeared to handle the heavy ground and could offer no explanetlon for her failure. A veterinary surgeon examined Kalott and reported that her breathing was distressed. He said this could have been duo to choking.
