QUEST FOR OIL NEAR MURCHISON.—The drilling rig which is being used at the Blackwater No. 1 well. Oil was first struck near Murchison, in the Mangles Valley, in 1926, but it was not productive and operations ceased in 1928, when the bailer was lost at a depth of 4080ft Hie present drilling is about two miles north of the former site.
