Alum
Sir,—Could anyone say what is happening to all the alum that we cannot procure now? Alum is used both for curing skins and home dying of homespun. It is disconcerting to think that people on sheep runs who grow their own wool cannot avail themselves of the necessary chemicals to use it.—Yours, etc., SNOWLINE.
May 9, 1968. [A spokesman for a manufacturing and wholesale chemist said that his firm had alum in stock and was expecting more from the next shipment.]
