DAMAGE IN POTATOES.—In the potato on the right the dark hole at the heel end indicates necrosis. In the cut tuber, on the left, necrosis can be seen extending round the tuber about a quarter inch under the skin. It is risky to use for seed a tuber as severely damaged as this. The one on the right could be used if carefully stored and handled.
