This is the first appearance in paperback form of a book originally adapted from the British Naval Intelligence Division Handbook on Greece, published in three volumes for service use. It is intended to be an outline of Greek political history from prehistoric times until 1964, with short chapters on culture, where relevant The emphasis is on recent history, classical Greece being dismissed in twenty pages, while nineteenth and twentieth history occupies over half the book. The facts (this is a book of bald fact) are set out lucidly and economically, supplemented by more than thirty excellent map*.
