The young Australian professional, R. Stanton, who just squeezed into the tournament to replace an injured player, took the lead after the first round in the SUSIOO.OOO Greater New Orleans tournament, United Press International reported. Stanton fired a six-under-par 65 for a one-stroke margin over the South African, G. Player, an American, J. Pott and the leading United States money-winner, T. Weiskopf. On 67, were the American Ron Cerrudo, Dave Stockton, South African, H. Henning, and the Americans, D. Marr, J. Cupit, H. Kneece, R. Cerrudo and D. Stockton. The New Zealander, R. J. Charles, had a two-under 69. K. A. G. Nagle 70, and B. DevUn 75.
