Keen Competition For Flint Cup

One ot the most keenly-con-tested events ot the Christchurch Competitions, the Flint Challenge Cup tor tap dancing by girls 12 years and over, was won last evening for the second year in succession by Beverley Clark, ot Greymouth.

Second place was awarded t« Maureen Foley, of Christchurch, with Christine Cunningham, also ot Christchurch, third. The judge of the ballot and tap dancing classes. Mrs G. Bunting of Invercargill, said that competition had been strong for the Flint Cup, and that the dancing had been ot an extremely high standard. . The highlight in the national dancing section—the South Island championship sword dance (under 18)—was won by Judith Marks, of Christchurch. Sharon Smith (Oamaru) was second, and Christine Forbes (Christchurch) third. ■‘l have seen some very promising dancing, especially in the classes tor those under 12 years of age,” said the judge of the national dancing. The Anal classes In the national dancing section will be held this morning. At 2 p.m. and 7.30 p.m.. demonstration concerts will be performed in the Shirley Beys’ High School assembly hall.
