New Roof Finish

Instant “vinyl” roof finishes are being applied to new Hillman and Chrysler cars in New Zealand using a new process that gives better durability and appearance. The roof finish is sprayed on using a new-formula acrylic lacquer which dries in a textured pattern similar to that of a glued-on vinyl roof finish. The grained finish has been tested, and has the same durability as normal body paintwork. The finish is easily and cheaply applied and can be easily “patched.” The problems of wrinkling and waterproofing seams encountered with normal vinyl roof-coverings do not arise.
