New Process Studied (from Our Own Jttporttr) WESTPORT, May 1. A sub-committee of Parliament’s Publie Expenditure Committee would-fitudy the possibility ef making a new coal and sawdust onquette al the Ngakawau work* before making a recommendation on the future of the plant, the chairman of the sub-commit-tee (Mr W. W. Freer) Mid fit Westport today. ' The subcommittee was sent to Ngakawau to investigate the failure of the briquette plant It spent Tuesday afternoon inspecting the work* and talking to the staff, i | On Tuesday night a delegation from'the Buller Chamber of Commerce met the subcommittee to ask that the work* be kept open until a new product by Mr G. S. Edlin, of Ngakawau, had been tested. Other member* of the subSommittee with Mr Freer are lessrs H. V. Donald (Govt Wairarapa), J, R. Harrison (Govt Hawke’s Bay), and S. A. Whitehead (Lab., Nelson). The party left Westport this morning in an R.N.Z.A.F. Dakota, to fly over mineral areas on the way to Nelson.
